read writable cds

Hi. Recently for no apparent reason my cd rom drive will no longer recognize any type of read writable blank cds. It gives the message no disk present. It will read manufactured cds. Please help. Thanks. Steve

I believe you need to have a CD drive that can burn CDs to recognize any kind of blank CD recordable CDs. A simple CD-ROM drive that can only read discs does not know how to handle blank discs.
