Hi, I recently bought an LG 16x 10x 40x CD writer, and I've encountered a few problems, of which the source I am not sure. P.S., I'm using Easy CD creator.

The problem:

- I copy files to the cd
- My friends read the cd, can play all the files from the cd (.avi), but one of the few files cannot be copied their computer
- I reburn the files, and the same problem is encountered with the same files
- I have compared file sizes, and I do not believe the files are corrupt or damaged

I've run into a similar problem with CDs I burned at above 8x speed. Try 8x or 4x and see if there is a difference in result.

Also... unless they are high quality cdrs they will have a higher chance of buring bad data the higher the speed. (or making errors while buring so the data becomes corrupted) Don't have one yet but this is a common comment I hear from burner owners.

If you can copy them to your HD, I would be suspicious of your friend’s computer. Have him run a virus scan for starters.

The geeks who test these things find that most burners are optimized to record at max speed and produce the fewest errors at full speed with good media. Might not apply to your LG as I haven’t seen tests on those.

Well, 2 of my friends are reading them with dvd roms...one of those 2 can read most of the files I burn...the other people who are reading them with cdroms have difficulty with a few files.

The only thing I can suggest is to change your media. Some burners work better with certain dye types.

Some CD-ROMs have better error correction than others and a DVD drive would probably be newer and have better error correction.

You might also try a freeware checker to check for errors. If you are getting errors you know you have to change your media or burning speed. This is one of the check programs: http://www.elpros.si/CDCheck/

Also update your LG firmware and get the latest EZCD update from Roxio.
