Having tried to solve an initial problem I seem to have made things worse:
    1) I started by trying to install i-tunes
    2) An error message said to install an updated version of Windows Installer
    3) Having tried this an error message said there was a problem with dll.cache
    4) I tried to resolve this by downloading fixes for the problem Regcure and Registry Fix
    5) I am now unable to open word, excel, powerpoint etc. error message reads specified module cannot be found
    6) System restore doesn't appear to work
    7) I am inundated with pop-ups
    Can anybody help?

Sorry the RED floppy is not a full recovery disk set, What you need is on CD-R disks.

What do the pop-ups say ?

If they are advising you to buy some sort of software to fix the PC then I think you have a Malware infection, I would post a HijackThis log in the security section here :- http://forums.techguy.org/54-malware-removal-hijackthis-logs/

Actually thinking about it I would post the log whatever the pop-ups say.
