I have had to do two complete system recoveries because there have been problems with the clock and then nothing works!
I have a Toshiba 1800 laptop using ME.
The first time both the time and the date were wrong, the second time the time and day/month were correct but the year was 2006, both times I put them right and shortly after the whole thing went pear shaped.
I would have expected errors/warnings if the battery was getting low - none but everything stopped working.
Can anyone throw any light on Real Time Clock batteries please?

Sounds like the power has run out. just leave the laptop switched on for a couple of hours and see if that helps.
