Hi. Today a co-worker got an error on her computer. It reads:
    Realtek HD Audio Manager
Access violation at address 7E42948D in module 'USER32.dll'. Read of address 0179B004.
    OK

I've searched for this error, but nothing seems to come up that is helpful.

I know it is related to the audio. I don't have access to the computer all the time.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Try re-installing the sound driver.
If you don't have it to install, you can download it from the PC manufacturer's website.
It may be a good idea to uninstall the existing sound driver first in case it's corrupted.
Installing new driver over the old one should fix the corruption but better play it safe and remove it first.

The install of the Realtek High Definition Audio driver is in 2 stages:

The first install process uninstalls the driver.

The second install process installs the driver.

There is a restart after each install process.

The current driver for XP is 5.10.0.6438

The current driver for Vista and 7 is 6.0.1.6438
