reboots

    When I turn-on computer I get as far as desktop and then computer reboots itself. This also happens if I boot off the XP disk.

    have you tried safe mode tap F8 as boots

    how do you feel about opening up the PC and removing items ?

    I have no problem with opening up tower. (I built the thing in the first place.

    You might want to take it back to a minimum config - just MOBO, HDD, graphiccs and see if it boots that
    also reseat all cables and modules
    also check fans etc - although as it reboots rather than just shuts down my not be heat

    I would still check for heat as being an issue to your problem but often times it is a motherboard issue. Check for leaking or bulging capacitors on the motherboard. This is often the culprit to auto reboots.
