receiving email attachments

I'm using Windows 98 (2d edition) with Microsoft Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. I cannot open any email attachment which emanates from AOL. I get the following message:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in My Computer by clicking View and then clicking Folder Options."

I've tried following the instructions but I don't know what to do after getting into folder options. The odd thing is that up to about a month ago, I could open any attachment sent viea AOL.

You need to set the file association with the program to open these files. You can find instructions on how to set the file association on my site.
