First, I should have said - actually the title is misleading but I don't think I can change it. I am not cloning, but taking a full disk image. It is for backup purposes, not for cloning to a second disk. But still....

I have been using Win 7 computers and had used Acronis True Image 2013 for these.

Now I have 2 Win 10 computers and I had thought I would use ATI for those as well. However I am only interested in the one-off subscription, not the annual one. The one-off comes with no phone support.
In fact, I couldn't even find a phone number for pre-sales support. The options were Knowledge base, Community, online chat or submit a ticket.

In the past I was at least able to ring and speak to someone even if it was only in sales... (Australia).

I've also seen some people commenting about the lag of getting a response on submitted tickets, up to several days.

So I am wondering is there another product anyone would like to recommend - I don't need a lot of bells and whistles.

My two Win 10 computers are SS drives and I am using a Seagate external (USB) drive for the backup media.

I also have a NAS WDMyCloud drive that could be used, though not all cloning software supports LAN connections.

The facilities I would like are just to be able to do a full clone of the drive, then either incremental or differential backups of that. The ability to restore either the full disk or individual files via an explorer-like interface would be good.

If there is one that has good customer support in Australia, I would like to know. I have read through previous posts on this topic but reputation changes with time and with editions of products and it seems that people that sometimes good products become bad ones....

You can edit the title of your thread as well as the post for up to 24 hours of making it however I've done it for you to avoid any confusion.

Is the only reason you don't want to use Acronis because of the lack of sufficient technical support for it? It's still a very good product.

They have an office in Australia and there's a telephone number for them there. Perhaps you could give them a call and ask what you have to do to get phone support.

    Thanks Cookiegal,

I tried everywhere to find that phone number - I had rung them once before in the past but the support page just had me going round in circles. I realise it's too late to change my title now, and you have done it for me (thanks) - but for future reference where do I go to do it? I looked under the edit function and my activities - obviously I am going blind or having a bad time of it lately! :) Also, thanks for all the times you've helped me - I've come across you quite a few times, and you've been doing this for a lot of people for a long time, so you deserve a lot of merit. :)

The "Edit" button at the bottom of the post only allows you to edit the text but in the top right-hand corner you should see "Thread Tools" and in the drop down menu you would find "Edit Title" there. Since it's too late now it will only show the option to add a poll in that menu.

Thanks for the kind words. It's always appreciated. :)

Well that's just it - I couldn't find Thread Tools - I thought there was a button for that but I couldn't see it anywhere - I've put the original post (which no longer has the edit button ….presumably because I have posted since) and my last post which has the edit button - but where do I find the Thread Tools? I've checked in More options as well ...must be going mad!

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Most have recommended ATI in one format or another and as that was what I had used before it was going to be my default option. But I was concerned about the support level offered.... I have since been given a recommendation by a friend who runs an IT business for Veeam - it's free and even has free phone support! It has all the functionality that I need, and I have tested it out with a backup and a recovery - it does bare metal recovery and I have checked that it finds my external drive in the recovery environment and done a file -level recovery successfully.

I've also tried out the phone support and they have excellent user guides online.

So I'll try that out. I had never heard of it before, but it seems to work well.

Norb, it seems that the Seagate ATI offering is for consumers with a Seagate HDD - my HDD is not Seagate, only the external drive is - not sure if that qualifies, but in the meantime I discovered Veeam and so I didn't pursue it further.

    Thanks again everyone.

I believe that's because the window has passed to be able to edit the title or add a poll so there are no more thread options available. You can start a new thread in Site Help, Feedback & Announcements forum as a test if you like. I can always delete it later.

I'm glad you found a product you're happy with.
