Recovered file problem

I have recovered several media file types from a memory stick using several different file recovery programs, However although all the file were recovered, none of them will open. The files were bmp. jpg. and avi. all the recovery programs I have tried all say that the files were recovered properly and with no errors, but none of them will open, Waht is the solution???

I have tried several paint programs and also several video players but they will not open and the error message says for example, with the bmp files," this file is not a bmp" but they are bmp files,?????
