Hello! Sorry if I chose the wrong topic for this. I think I may have lost one of my memory sticks and I would like to recover some videos from it. I have viewed them on my computer when the stick was in the USB port but I never saved the files to my computer. I can see the files if I run ”shell:recent” in the run command box but since I never saved them I can’t open them. Is there a way for me to recover these files from the trace they have left on my computer?

Sorry, no, this won't work. That's merely metadata represented in your system, and there's no way to reconstruct the actual data from there.

Could it work even though the videos were never saved on the computer?

This will not work. Period. The PC is referencing metadata and not the actual data from the flash drive.

I agree with lochlomonder. You are only seeing a list of the files accessed (ie: a list of file names). There is no data from the files stored on the computer.

To use data recovery software, you would need access to the media which stored the files.
