recovery help

    I have a gateway ml3109 laptop that came with windows vista I gave it to a buddy to put windows 7 ultimate on but the install was fake and now I want to just restore it back to factory settings How do I go about doing so?

    Im going to guess that the partition vista was on is probably long gone when windows 7 was installed. If you have the restore or recovery disks that came with the computer you can use those to reinstall vista again to the way it was when it was brand new.You might want to contact gateway and see if you can purchase the recovery disks for that model if you dont have them.You can also try hitting i think F10 to see if it will get you into the recovery partition.

    I got the recovery disk and did a compleete factory restore now vista will load and I can log in but after it finishes preparing my desktop it just goes blank and never loads up.
