Hello everyone! I've recently been experiencing a issue on my laptop where the internet connection bar has a red x over it. However, I am still connected to the internet. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I am running on windows 7 with a Dell Latitude E6520.
One guy solved this problem in 2010 and it helped others.
1. Clear all preferred wireless networks from your network configuration. Right click to manage, click wireless on the left, delete everything.
2. Ensure the network manager service is running.
A reboot may be required, but it was not in my case.
OK, you're talking about the Network icon. Sometimes in Windows 7 when you are connected via wireless but not by ethernet you get that (stupid) X over the Network icon. Is that your situation? Sometimes it goes away after a Restart. Sometimes sticks around for a few days. Annoying, but doesn't seem to cause any problem.
Although it doesn't cause any issues I was wondering if there was quick-fix solution. However, your comment suggests that it will go away in a fews days?
Always did for me the years I used Windows 7. But note that Liz posted a procedure that may be quicker.
