redirect from yahoo mail

I use earthlink mail with no problems, but also go to yahoo mail to reach a friend direct. After I enter the friends mailbox, it opens fine, but within 5 seconds the screen is eclipsed by "about blank" home page. When I delete it, I lose the yahoo mail page also. I have loaded Norton Internet Security and Spybot but still can't get rid of the problem.

I purchased ($29.95) and downloaded SpywareBlaster which advertised to include ad-ware problems. Still have the redirect.

went to majorgeeks, found and run hijackthis 1.98.2 and as soon as it loads I get acrobit reader with "file does not begin with %PDF" tried 4 times at different download sights

You have a file association conflict. The file that was downloaded is a .zip file. You will need WinZip to open this file. The Extracted file is an .exe file, which will open as application.

To create a file association for a .zip file, while holding the Shift key, right click on the file and select Open With. Select Winzip as the program to open this file from the list of programs and check the box labeled "Always use this program to open this type of file".
