reformating xp

    hi im trying to reformat xp pro

    i did a search on here but did not help

    i also did a search on google, with no luck

    i know i need a boot disk to go in to dos?

    so that i may type in the command line format c:/

    but how do i get there?

    i was sent to a microsoft site where it had boot disk

    but it required 6 disks? i dont think that was right

    any help would be great! thanks

    Yes, there are six boot disks for Win XP although you might not need all of them just to reformat.

    However, your statement about "reformat XP Pro" is not quite accurate. You want to reformat your hard drive and the two basic options are using the FAT32 file system or the NTFS file system. You can load pretty well any Windows OS on FAT and on NTFS you can load NT4, W2K or WinXP.

    Do you have a Win XP CD-ROM? You can boot from the CD-ROM and reformat your hard drive.

    As well, you could probably look for a DOS boot disk that supported NTFS.
