I need to turn in a laptop within the next few days. I need to make sure there is no retrivable files on this machine. Is reformatting my best option and if so please tell me how to do this. I have a program called evidence elliminator will this work. Thanks for your help

Ok when you start up your laptop, hold the F9 or one of those keys to get into Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, etc. and select something like Command Prompt. Once there, type in 'format c:' and that should delete off all information (just make sure you gove the disks to whoever your giving it to so they can boot off the CD and install the OS [XP, WinME, etc])

Killdisk will do the job. Data / information can be recovered from a formatted disk. Killdisk conforms to DOD standard [writing 7 passes]
