I have an old computer (windows 98), it has frozen up while online before, this time, it froze, I manually turned it off, when turning back on, it went directly to the screens to install windows 98. I don't have this info since this computer was given to us, and i was told i need to reformat. Is this true, and if so, how do i do this?

You'll need a Windows 98 installation disk if you want to format.

For starters, do you have a Win98 CD.

The reason is if you format, and don't have it, then you can't reinstall Windows.

If you do have the CD and just need the file, you can download and create a Win98 floppy from:

Also, you don't need to format to get a clean install. Very common misconception.
