Had hard drive replaced. (techs) installed my original CD's and installed SP2 over it. System works fine but got a white bubble saying I have to register Windows. Never did it before, and have no idea how to register or what I need. I thought that you could not update windows if it was not registered. Why didn't they register it when they had it put on? What would happen if I don't register it? Need help or info on this subject in case windows shuts down on its own soon. Replaced hard drive a wk. ago.

It's Activation of Windows that allows you to get updates etc etc. Click on the "balloon" and there should be an option not to register. You don't have to register Windows but you have to activate Windows.
