Can anyone recommend a good and safe registry cleaner? I've heard some good things about CCleaner, but was wondering what experiences members have had with this or other software. Thanks.

    A couple of points:

    1. This program is really not registry cleaner

    2. If you are not "really" careful, you could lose files that you didn't really want to lose. When you run the program and it deletes the files, those files are gone. There is no pre-listing to allow you to peruse what is about to go. And, no backups taken. And no deletion to the Recycle bin.

To me, this is a much too dangerous program to be generally recommended.

I gotta tell you, I used CCleaner and while it DID dump a buttload of junk and speed up my system it also dumped a lot of stuff I would rather have kept. That's sort of a tough one to use for me. I'm not a rocket scientist nor am I a dufus, but I can't seem to configure it to keep the cookies I want it to, and dump the rest -- plus, I'd rather keep my history than dump it because I often refer back. Well ... Maybe I am sorta duh ...
