On boot of Windows XP Pro, blue screen appears with the error message "c0000218 {Registry File Failure}" the file is in ...\Systemroot\system32\config\software

the computer boots occasionally, and to get it to boot i need to do a repair with the xp cd...but i just enter and exit the repair log and it works. any ideas on how to fix this problem? thanks

Try turning off write caching for the hard drive. What it sounds like is happening is that the machine is powering down before the write cache is finished flushing.
