I have a new Laptop (windows 7 home premium) that I run through a router to access the internet and I want to remote my Desktop PC (Windows XP). I would like to do it the easiest way possible.

The remote desktop would need to be running a professional version of Windows in order to accept remote connections. If so you must open port 3389 on your router to accept the connection and use remote desktop connection which is located in the accessories folder.
