I certainly would advise against uninstalling something like Netscape manually.

Why does it object to being uninstalled?
    What message are you getting?

The best thing would be to install Netscape again in order to restore an uninstall string that may be missing or corrupted, and uninstall it afterwards.

Just make sure you end task on all active programs during install and uninstall, ideally leaving only Explorer and Systray.

Well, start by downloading and installing Netscape over your present version.

Just make sure your present version of Netscape, Internet Explorer, and your antivirus are disabled when you do that.

    Afterwards reboot.

Make sure your antivirus, Internet Explorer, and of course Netscape are disabled again, then go to Add-Remove, and try uninstalling it again.

    Good luck,

Just close them down to make sure they're not running.
Close all browser windows, and rightclick your antivirus icon in the system tray, and choose close, or exit, or whatever it's called.

    What more can I say?

    This is definitely not complicated.
