Alright, I've added "Unanswered threads" to the What's new menu.

I'm also experimenting with a new "Unanswered" tag next threads that meet these criteria:
- Not in the Malware Removal forum (as it already has it's own tag system)
- Has 1 or fewer replies
- The most recent reply is the original poster (to allow for a bump)
- Is not locked
- Is less than 30 days old
- Has not been marked Solved

Let me know what you think. :)

I'm also excluding the following forums as many posts don't have replies by the nature of the forum:
- Tech-Related News
- Tech Tips / Reviews

Do you mean if it has 1 reply but it's not the thread starter it would still show as unanswered?

No, sorry. I just corrected my statement. If the thread has a reply, but it's from the thread started, it still counts as Unanswered. If they reply more than once, it loses that tag though. I can only (easily) compare the most recent post and the first post, so if there are two replies I can't easily see who was in between. Sorry, that's a little complicated but hopefully it makes sense. :)

Also, clicking on the Unanswered tag will take you to the list of unanswered threads from the last 30 days.

It seems to be working very well but is a little big and causes the titles to now go to two lines more often.

Is it possible to make it a tad smaller maybe a notch smaller on the font?

Those tags have a standard size, but I'm sure I can force it to be a little smaller and still readable -- but it probably won't gain much line space. Maybe an extra letter or two? I thought about calling it "New" instead of "Unanswered" but I felt it didn't accurately describe the indication. (Why is a thread from three weeks ago marked new?) I wonder if there's another word we could use, but perhaps that would only cause confusion as it's called Unanswered everywhere else (like in the menus).

Yeah I guess it's not worth it if it will only save a character or two. Ignored doesn't seem like a good option either. :(

Is there any way to make more room for titles? Maybe squeeze the other things that appear to the right closer together (like the replies and views as there's a lot of space between those words and the number). Can all of that stuff be shifted a little over to the right?

Or stretch things out to use some of the white unoccupied space on the left and right sides of the page?

Hmm, I'll have to dig around a bit. I don't really want to stretch the table any wider -- I find it difficult to visually keep the lines straight if they're too wide -- but I'm sure I could create another style option for those who would want it that way. Also, keep in mind that the list looks a little busier to Mods and Admins as we see the extra Edit and checkbox buttons. I just looked around at a few forums and noticed only one case where the title went to a second line, and I'm pretty sure it would have done so without the tag:

I'm sure there are times where it is causing a title to go to the next line -- I didn't try to look at every page of every forum -- but I'm not sure if it's frequent enough to justify major changes in the layout. I might feel differently after using it for a while, though. ;)

You're right it doesn't happen that often. I looked at the same page and threads as your screenshot and when logged in and for the only one that appears on two lines, I have the word "avoid" on the second line as well but it's because of the Admin. things I see. If I log out I see the same as you.

There are threads that still go to two lines even without the tag anyway. It's not something that's worth spending any time on but thanks for considering it. :)

Is there some option for me to turn off those horribly annoying "Unanswered" tags?

When/if I care I can continue to simply look at the "0" for number of replies.

If I may suggest

This is what another site that I belong to uses "Answer", which would remove four letters

I don't think it's something users can disable Terry but we'll see what Mike says about it. Perhaps he can make it so that users can choose if they don't want to see the tags.
