    Hi All,
I have a question that no other websites have been able to answer but ive seen others with the same problem. Hopefully someone here can help.

Im using IE 6 When viewing web pages, i never had a scroll bar at the bottom. The screen would just stretch out. When i would open my favorites or the search bars, they would open on the left hand side and my web page i was viewing would just stretch and i was able to view the entire page from side to side. I would have to use the vertical scroll bar , of course, to view the full page.

Im not sure what i did, but now when opening the favorites etc, i always have a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom and i have to use it because the web pages move off the screen. Ive tried all different settings, looked all over for something that would change this setting back to what it was. My res. is 800 x 600 so that is no a problem. my text size is fine (set at medium), my video card seems to be fine. ive tried stretching the screen using the arrows at the corners etc.

Im not afraid to mess with the registry. So any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

I see what you mean, I have IE 5.5 and can move the side in and out and not get a scroll bar at the bottem but don't see anything in setting to change it.

Ok, seems it is determined by the site you visit. The HTML coding of the webpage determines if you will have scroll bars or not.
Can you give me the site where you have a scroll bar at the bottom?

Is there a way to override the website settings. Seems to me there was a way to do that but im not sure where. Why would i have no scroll bar and now i do. Others have posted this same question on other websites. Or how do i stretch the screen so it stays on the screen and i wont have to scroll ovver to read the web page. never used to have to do that. (when favorites or search was opened)?

Remember, i only have the scroll bar when my favorites or search bars are opened on the left side. But i never used to have this problem. (i use search and favorites alot) The web site would like stretch out and i was able to view the entire web site from side to side on the screen(i have 17" monitor) with no scroll bar, now i have to use the scroll bar because the web site goes off the screen on the right side. (with favorites etc opened)
That why im guessing its a IE setting somewhere or a registry setting and nothing to do with web site settings because i never had this before. But here are a couple of site i use. Hopefully this will help.

    Thank you :)

when you have favorites or whatever open on the screen grab the dividing bar that is between favs and the webpage and drag it to the left a little bit till you loose the scroll bar

I just tried it and it didnt work. I made the favorites bar to the size of about 1" and i couldnt read it, and the scroll bar was still there. Its funny too, because when i would grab the divider bar between and make the favorties smaller it use to stretch(downward) out the favorites and not matter how small i made the width of the bar i could read everything. It like it rearranged the words etc so everything could be read by stretching it. now i shorten the width and everything stays the same and i cant read without moving the bar back out again. strange.

Everything is the same. 800x600 text size is medium like always, video card seems ok, no other glitches except this. My old setting was almost like having hit f11 without hitting f11. I had no scroll bar, favorites stretched out , screen was readable from side to side, no off screen.

    Hi All,
Thank you for all your advice and help. Im sitting here reading my emails moving back and forth between sites and all of a sudden my screen went back to stretching out.!!! I have no idea what in the world i hit or clicked. My favorites box on the left side of screen stetched out (i have it about 2" wide) My monitor is 17" and i can read everything in the box. and my screen on the left started to stretch out too. I still have the scroll bar on the bottom but it barely has any room to move over and if i do move it over to the right the web page im viewing has a blank spot running down the whole right side of the page because everything has stretched downward. Hummm..... any idea??? Maybe a button on my keyboard. This is really driving me crazy!!!! There has to be a reason. On other computing sites others have had this problems but no one knows exactly how it happens. Again thank you for your help. :)

Well, glad you got it fixed, even if we don't know what did it.
    Have a great day.
