    I currently have Trend Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security 2005, which I have had for the past two years. My renewed subscription has recently expired, now eliminating whatever good this sub-par program was doing for me in the past (hogged resources, didn't detect many things, etc.).

    I would like some help uninstalling PC-Cillin 2005... including the hundreds of quarantined files on my computer. I'd like to get rid of all traces of this program to prevent conflicts and free up some valued resources that this program was bogging my computer down with.

    I'd also like to hear some suggestions of what new Anti-Virus software I should get... whether free or not. I've tried AVG on another computer and out of personal preference I didn't really care for it that much... so any advice on a new program would be great.

    Avast? NOD32? Kaspersky? What should I pick?

    Thank you in advance! :)(y)

    Here are some good free ones: (personally I like avast)

    * Avast! Home Edition http://www.majorgeeks.com/Avast_Home_Edition_d1968.html

    * AVG Free Edition http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=886

    * AntiVir Personal http://www.majorgeeks.com/AntiVir_Personal_Edition_7_d955.html

    These are better than Symantec/Norton or McAfee because they are free and because they are not so system resource hungry. The recent versions of Symantec/Norton and McAfee have become very bloated. This does not mean they do not work. But whatever you choose remember to Only Run ONE real time AV!

    From what I've read, NOD 32 is the best rated paid AV.
