Spy Bot or Adaware should remove many of the Kazaa files.

You should be able to remove most of the registry items after removing the program by using JV16 power tools reg. cleaner.

I did not know there was a problem removing the actual program. Once you have got rid of it the icon should either go or you should be able to delete.

I have never done it myself. Peace Mal

    Kim,

Did you run any spyware cleaner prior to trying to uninstall Kazaa? If you did, it can make the Kazaa uninstall not work.

The proper way to uninstall it is to do it an the add/remove programs section of the control panel. Then run Spybot or the new AdAware to remove the left over spyware.

If your Kazaa is corrupted, you might need to re-install it over itself, then uninstall through the add/remove programs, then run Spybot to get rid of the left overs.

    Hope this helps.

Kim, guess we were both posting at the same time. Spybot Search & Destroy is free and you can download it here:

    http://patrick.kolla.de/

After you download and install it, click on the online tab, search for updates, then download the updates. Close Spybot, then re-launch and run it.

There are numerous threads here about it if you have questions. Look in the security forum for more.

Hi, SpyBot will bring up a lot of entries and I suggest if you are not certain just let it delete the ones it marks with a red box. Can't rmeber exactly think it is a red exclamation mark.

The others (orange)are most probably all right to delete but ifunless you are familiar with it leave it alone.

It does back up the registry files that it deletes so they can be restored if necessary. Peace Mal

Ok for all you helpers out there I was able to remove Kazaa with that spybot information. Thanks. I reloaded it and it worked ok but the problem is back ... I cant get anyone to upload from me without timing out. I called Opti online and they stated that I had so many people uploading from me that my modem put itself in a capping mode. The tech I spoke with stated that they do not support sharing and I should not be doing it. I had cable for a year without any problems. The tech at cable cleared my modem and told me to minimize sharing which I did and everything was fine people were uploading from me without a problem. Now the problem is back. Now my cable provider is stating that it is a problem with Winmx and Kazaa not with my cable modem. The only thing I can think of is to go to DSL and forget cable. Anyone out there with this problem?

    Hiya

I use WinMX, and to get the best out of it, tweaked it like this:

    http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?postid=458994#post458994

Ignore the rest about a router. Not sure how you tweak Kazaa, but someone here may know.

What you can do, is use a different port to share with. I'm using 16699 (its all explained in that link). The reason is, is that many ISP's monitor the sharing port, but if you try the ones that are higher, like 16699, then you stand a better chance of getting more downloads.

    Regards

    eddie
