I've just downloaded some new software - Webroot's Spy Sweeper which seems to be really effective at clearing out the spyware et al. however, one of the things it hasn't done is cleared out the mass of websites which have appeared in my favorites list.
I have tried with various lop removers which all have been unsuccessful in solving the problem.
Where are these imported sites stored? In the registry?
How can they be removed, either manually or through the use of applications?

    SpywareBlaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
    AdAware SE http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
    SpyBot S&D 1.3 http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

DL them (they are free), install them, check each for their
    definition updates
and then run AdAware and Spybot, fixing anything
    they say.

In SpywareBlaster - Always enable all protection after updates
SpyBot - After an update run immunize

Do these and reboot before the next step.

Then get HiJack This http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html, put
it in a permanent folder (C:\HJT) , run it , DO NOT fix anything, post the
    log here.

I don't like Adaware, the reason being it only scans about half of the files on my computer (including the registry) and picks up only a few items whereas something like Spyware Doctor picks up 50 or 60, Spy Sweeper picked up around a hundred in total.
Spybot only picks up around a dozen.
Spybot doesn't seem to pick up lop, similarly adaware doesn't seem to have much effect.
