In win98 SE i had someone install the OS for me but they spelled my last name wrong when they entered the volume label name. Now when ever i log off it says the name wrong. I know this is not a big deal but it would be nice if I could change the name correctly without having to reinstall the OS. Is there a way? I already right clicked on C: and changed the name of the drive but it still says the wrong spelling when going to start/log off...

If it can be done let me know before I consider changing my last name..just kidding.

Thanks, :)

Is it the Volume Name or the registered user name. Check the following key in the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

‘Start’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Control Panel’, open ‘Network’; or right click ‘Network Neighborhood’ > ‘Properties’; click ‘Identification’ tab. Type new name, or overtype current name, select ‘OK’ and reboot when prompted.
