    hi

Im actually helping someone else on thier possible virus-infected computer.

They have XP and 3 weeks ago,the computer became ill. They tried reformatting thier computer to see if that would fix thier computer,it did not,the problem continued. They checked with thier ISP,everything is suppose to be fine. They did a virus scan with norton, norton found nothing(NOTE: norton was not updated in 6 months).

they go online and within seconds, get disconnected.

virus? if it is a sign of that notorious XP virus from last month, can i download it and put it on a cd disk use it on thier computer? Thnaks

ok, i ran the LSP-Fix on the infected computer, about 5 files were removed. i went on line and again, the repeated disconnections(with reboot)continued.

    i ran the LSP-Fix again,about 5 files were removed,again,disconnected and reboot.

my dianogsis(-sp) might be wrong,i think as soon as i go back on line, the computer is reinfected again.

Please do this. Go here http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ and download Hijack This. Un Zip it and click on the Hijachthis.exe.

Click the "Scan" button when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.

Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

Do NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless. Someone here will be glad to advise you on what to fix.

The log may reveal the source of the problem.
