Replacing broken motherboard options?

    I think that my motherboard short circuited or something. I plan on getting a new one. My comp is OEM so it did not come with a windows XP cd.

    Should I buy a new XP operating system? Would changing the motherboard/reinstalling operating system mean that I would lose my previous files/setup?
