    i have a dell inspiron 3551 laptop.
i have taken my friends new samsung 850 evo ssd and installed it in the laptop and tried it the bios could see the drive, windows 10 installer could see the drive but after installing on the first reboot it says no boot device found.
that drive works properly in my friends vastro 3446 laptop.
now i want to buy a new ssd drive it should be between 480gb to 512gb.
which will be the compatible 1 for this laptop.
should i go for adata su650?

You cannot remove a SSD containing a Windows operating system from a Dell Vostro 3446 laptop and install it in a Dell Inspiron 3551 laptop and expect it to work.
After you install the SSD in your laptop, you would need to install a Windows operating system in it.

From reading this several year old thread
    https://www.dell.com/community/Lapt...ade-Issues-Samsung-850-Evo-250GB/td-p/4564146

apparently an Inspiron 3551 will not boot with an Evo 850 according to 2 posters in that thread. They've had the same experience as you.

Here are some ssd guaranteed to work in your 3551
    https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Dell/inspiron-15-(3551)#SSDFilters

If the drive you purchase doesn't work, Crucial will take the drive back and return your money.

That is strange, you would think that a ssd would work in any computer with SATA connections!

    at last! problem solved.
got the crucial bx500 480gb ssd and it works on my laptop.
however i am a bit disappointed with the bootup time.
this is a clean install of windows 10 with ms office 365 and chrome.
also for those that have the crucial ssd did you install storage executive software?
what features are worth enabling on it?
