I have MSblaster.exe on my laptop. I followed all instructions from Symantec and Microsoft, no luck. Tried to get the removal "tool", it turned out to be just another text document. When the file wasn't present at the processes tab, I went into the registry and found one MSblast.exe to remove, did it, but when I went back online, I still had the RPC cutoff. Does anyone know how I can save myself? Please experts, help!

Just send an involved reply, but since I came to the site directly through my hotmail message, techguy said I wasn't logged in right after I posted the reply. If you didn't get it, please just send me a "nope" and I'll type it in again.

If it was a PM I didn't get it. But please post any replies to this thread rather than by PM. That way others can review and work on the problem as well if they have anything to contribute.

I did download and use decombob. I had already fixed the problem by tricking the worm. I used another computer to get the URL of the Symantec repair tool and instructions, then entered it in the infected computer, after first fixing the RPC to restore service on failure, then downloaded the tool and used it. Then I got the Microsoft patch and installed, then ran decombob to be sure I was set. Then installed Norton Personal Firewall on the laptop, where it should have been in the first place! Thanks so much for your help, you're a champion of the net.
