Could be a tough one. What version of Windows is this? And have you tried replacing the file rundll32.exe (don't replace krnl386.exe)?

    Any other errors with rundll32.exe?

A Windows reinstall may be needed to fix this, as the problem could be with faulty inf (install data) files.

This regisrty file may do it for you. It is for WinME Download the attachment and rename it Setup.reg Double click on it to enter into the registry.

EDIT: Sorry. I didn't trim the explanation. Copy the text in between the dotted lines. Save that as setup.reg

Double click on that registry file to enter into your registry.

 What exactly did you do to fix it, just restore rundll32 or rename the inf folder and reinstall?
