Can someone please help!
When I download files of the internet, after its downloaded I get the message "cannot open file, file is corrupted or is not a valid "Dr Watson log file"
I had no problems until I let my young daughter try to download a desk top theme.

Hi Gill,

Welcome to the board!

This is odd. Does this happen with all files you download? Independent of the extension? Or does it happen mainly with *.exe-files

And do you get this error when you doubleclick it?

Thanks for the reply Tony;

I'll try to explain more clearly how the problem occured.
My daughter downloaded a desk top theme, after the theme downloaded, a box came up, that said "click on the programme you wish to use to open the file" or something like that! And my daughter clicked on the DR Watson programme, so now ever time we try to download a desk top theme etc we get the message "An error occured while loading the file..................the file is damaged or not a valid DR Watson log file"

Yours hopefully
Gill

I understand.

You just need to change the way Windows opens this file type. What is it? A *.bmp file.

Download and run http://www.aumha.org/downloads/thumnail.reg .

This is the general fix to restore Windows file associations for a dozen different image types.

Good luck,

I clicked on the link, Tony and the file downloaded, what do I do now!

I'm new to internet so don't understand many technical terms!

Just doubleclick it, and answer 'yes' when your asked whether you want the contents of the reg file added to your registry.
Afterwards, reboot.

Good luck,

Thanks Tony. It seems to have worked
Daughter is very pleased with her desk top theme I managed to download, after taking your advice.

Thanks again
