when i start up my computer it says that Hpfsched has performed an illegal operation and behind that dilog box there is one saying

"setup has detected that you are running a version of windows that already includes the updated files you are atempting to intall"

When i click on the detail button it says

    "Important

You are attempting to install Internet Explorer version 5.0 or earlier on Windows_98. Internet Explorer is already part of the Windows_98 operating system. Installing an earlier version of Internet Explorer will not allow the operating system to function properly."
I don' t know what this is. at all please help......:(

well I think all its saying is that the drivers you now have are newer than the drivers you are attempting to load. It is asking you if you want to keep these newer ones or load the old drivers.
do I correctly understand your question?

"setup has detected that you are running a version of windows that already includes the updated files you are atempting to intall" what else does it say here? before you click on details?

hpfsched is a small TSR that will remind you to clean the
cartridges in your DeskJet from time to time in order to keep print
    quality high.
Disable it from starting thru msconfig
Start >Run and type msconfig and press enter
On the far right side of the dialog box that just opened you
will see Startup click on that and scroll down to run= , it should
say hpfsched on the right side.
Uncheck the little box on the left.

There's another way to stop it from running thru win.ini
    but msconfig is easier.

What model HP do you have ?
What problems are you having with it ?
