how do i reinstall my internet stack? many thanks!

i removed many other related file (norton said it is the virtumonde adware)....including targetsoft directory in HKLM/etc.....

    i'm using XP Pro SP2

this is a reply to this thread (but ended up as a new post here unexpectedly)
    http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?postid=1846547#poststop
    quick sum-up:
i think i got this virtualmonde crap when i was installing a divx and opened up the firewall by accident. you have to remove 'targetsoft' in hklm registry and various other files in system32 whick were created at the time minute.
NAV was able to remove most of these craps except inetadpt.dll, the thread told us how to get rid of inetadpt (withlspfix, restart, delete the crap, restart again), but then tcp/ip was damaged.

I think it is related to "this piece of junk".

I would download the LSPFIX software as noted in the link.

Also, SpyBot and let it fix what it finds.

And, download and run HiJackThis and post back the log that it creates in a REPLY post to this thread.

i was able to find this over google (using run --> cmd shell command)
    and re-install the tcp-ip stack
so that IE now works after inetadpt is removed.

    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

    --------
but i think there is a related adware/spyware norton found and couldnt delete
it identified as "look2me" and the files are called
    ayctres.dll, and akctres.dll
    in system32 folder.

i think this guy multiply itself as i found the second file about an hour after i ran NAV, and they are probably the same file with different names: all are 314kB in size and created at the same minute (i found looking at the time fo creation vey useful in getting rid of such malicious spywares)

how could i get rid of them?

    many thanks

i think it is fixed (at least for now)

I did a search over all folder (incl system files) for files created at the same minute as this crap dll, and found a file a~NU....exe (i forgot the exact name). i then deleted it.
    (i think i also end-processed the rundll.exe file)
then i was able to trask akctres.dll.

it seems that it is solved.

so the trick seems to be searching dll/exe files created at the exact minute of that mal-ware file and try to get rid of them all
