(Resolved) installed icq something weird???

i have installed icqb2001.exe without uninstalling icq 2000b. now i have both version booted up on my desk top. what should i do? should i uninstall the old version? or what?

Hiya and Welcome

uninstalling the old version may cause a problem. You can backup your database of names. http://www.icq.com/icq123/backupconlist.html

However, the feeling at the FAQ is just to back it up and install a new version.

Assuming Windows98, as you have not specified, go to RUN and type MSCONFIG. Go to the Startup Tab and look for the older version. Uncheck it, apply and restart. If you are unsure, then let us see your list. Run and type MSINFO32.
On the left look under Software Enviroment, then Startup Programs. Copy/paste the list.

Hi I trie'd the all new ICQ 2001b. But I found it took so long to boot up that I give up. And went back to 2000.v4.63 #3279.

If I was you I would leave 2001 till they sort out the bugs.
Also found it to be very bland.
