    Hi,

I'd like to know if it's okay to delete the windows notification update file:

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WUCRTUPD.EXE

It's driving me crazy, and I would just like to get rid of it, if I can. Would I have to delete other files with it also?

    Thanks, Yahoos

Rather than deleting the folder, uninstall it:
    1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
    3. Click Microsoft Windows Critical Update Notification.
    4. Click Add/Remove.

    Dear Miz,

Hi, I have tried removing it in add/remove, and it does remove, but it keeps coming back.

Let me know if you have any more ideas on how to permanently delete it.

    Yahoos.

Open msconfig and Uncheck it in the start up.
That was how I stopped it.

    Dear Hewee,

That did the trick. Thank you. Always fun to learn something new. Glad to get rid of that progam.

I really like your quote. Though I've not yet done one of those, just the thought alone made me smile.

    Take care, ganaan

    yahoos,

    Your welcome :)
Well you still have the program on your PC but it just is not starting now.
Thanks the Quoto was something I always got in emails from my Aunt and I loved it so used it here. Then later I found out it was Satchel Paige.

Just an FYI, I believe you can also disable this in Control Panel>System>Automatic Updates, then just take the checkmark out.....that's how I did it.

Also, while you are there, you can go to the Advanced tab, and click on the Error Reporting button, there you will have the chance to change that annoying message to report a problem to Micro$oft and just get the error instead.
