Do a full c: drive file search for msconfig.exe

The proper location for it is c:\windows\pchealth\helpctr\binaries

The file size is 142kb; do not copy anything to that location which is not that file size.

You may find a copy in c:\I386 listed as msconfig.ex_

This is a compressed file which has to be expanded before it can be used.

    http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...proddocs/en-us/alt_url_windows_component.mspx

If the compressed version msconfig.ex_ is the only one found, expand it to the proper folder using this command from Start> Run:

    expand c:\I386\msconfig.ex_ c:\windows\pchealth\helpctr\binaries\msconfig.exe

Note: there is ONE space after msconfig.ex_
