got a big problem. looked through the forums, but didn't see anything exactly like my problem.

When I try to start up a game with video or my new video editing software, my computer locks up and I must restart. When I try to play wmp files, the window opens but it just says "opening...".

Initially I thought it was my video card, but why would realplayer work?

It all started when I attempted to install "VideoWave 4", editing software. I did the "typical" install, so I made no changes to my original configuration myself. Since, I've uninstalled....still have problems.

Someone else had a similar problem and said to delete quicktime, and i did to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hiya and welcome

When you installed/uninstalled, did it ask for your windows disk?

Okay, lets see if we can try some things.

First off, can you restore your system to how it was before you installed VideoWave.

Reboot to Dos and at the prompt type the following. Note the space before the /

    scanreg /restore

and pick a date prior to this. Don't pick the oldest date. Think we may be outa luck on that front, but worth a bash.

Okay, it seems to be freezing. Whats "my new video editing software"?

Go to Run and type MSINFO32
On the left choose Software Enviroment, then Startup programs. Copy/paste the list here.

Hi. I really appreciate your help, but I already gave up. After many hours of attempting to fix the problem, including a visit to the live tech guy (who couldn't fix it), I reformatted the hard drive. All is working now. I didn't think anyone could help. But, thanks anyway.
