New PC running Win 2K PRO I/E6 w/all critical updates installed.

The very first time I set up the internet connection, I used my 5 letter password, tried to connect and realized I had entered my user name wrong....re-did the connection by deleting the old one and starting new.

As I said, brand new home built PC, never been on-line before.

Now I can connect fine (dial-up) but the next time I go to connect the password box has a sixteen letter password in it, I have to manually remove the long one and reconnect using my five digit one. I have deleted the account and started over with a renamed connection several times, the problem persist, haven't been able to google a answer for this, can anyone help ??...Rhett

I see nothing in properties to help, all settings look normal....untill I hook up....then the long password is back the next time I connect. A odd problem to say the least !
