    Hello all:

I bought Vice City about 2 months ago...

For about a month and a half after that, I have been able to play it just fine...

But, about 2 weeks ago, I started having problems:
During regular gameplay, the game has started freezing up & the sound effects sound like a broken record.

After about 30-40 seconds, it goes back to normal, but when you are trying to play a game and it freezes up every 15 minutes, it can get annoying!

Does anyone know what might be causing this problem. It seems especially strange to me because the game actually worked fine for a month, and THEN went crazy

Open up your case, and clean out all the dust, and try running it with the side of the case off, and a fan pointing towards it.

Thanks- I want to go to the store and buy some compressed air and other cleaning supplies because I have not cleaned the tower in a long time.

After I clean it, I will see if there are still any problems...

Yes, so far the problem has only occurred when I am playing Vice City.

Try updating your sound card drivers and or try different settings in the game for audio and see if that helps.

Update your videocard drivers as well and quit programs running in the background.

eh, take the 10 mins to uninstall reinstall, it won't erase your saved games or anything!

It seems that McTimson's suggestion earlier in this thread was right- after a thorough cleaning, the game once again seems to be working just fine.

    Thanks for your help everyone!!!
