Hi
I am running Windows 98 and recently tried to install a program from a CD. This program had Quicktime on it but failed to install properly so I gave up on it but now QuickTime has taken over a lot of my programs and my Outlook Express and instead of the usual picture frame icon I have all Quicktime Icons for Jpeg, gif etc. How can I get my original icons back and get rid of the quicktime. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

If your problem is only a matter of icons, you can try repairing icons using TWEAKUI.
If it is more than that. please post back.

Download and install instructions for Tweakui here:
http://www.windows-help.net/windows98/tweakui2000.shtml

After install, go to control Panel and open TweakUI
Click on the "repair" tab.
In the drop down menu, choose "Rebuild Icons" and then click the Repair Button next to the menu.

See if that helps.

Before you try that, I think it might be wise to go to Control Panel>Add Remove Programs and see if there is a Quicktime Listed. If there is, Remove it from there. If not, you might try reinstalling Quicktime and then removing it properly. Incomplete installs and uninstalls can come back to haunt you.
Better to be safe.

Thanks for the info Mosaic1. I did what you suggested and had a bit of a problem at first but got everything working OK now. Thanx a bunch.
