>> Install, UPDATE, and run an ad/spyware detection and cleaning program such as Spybot or Ad-Aware.

There is a Reference Guide tutorial for Ad-ware currently pinned at the top of the Security forum:

http://forums.techguy.org/t164245/s.html

You can get and use Spybot following this link:

http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/index1.html

Post another Scanlog when ready.

I think the problem is fixed :) I did the fixes in the hijackthis log, and installed and ran spybot. Restarted my computer and no error message! Ran another log just in case. See anything not right here, or am I ok now?
((and thanks so much for your help))

Looking good!

Just as an aside here from the main issue, if this were my system I would run msconfig and clear the check for this under the Startup Tab:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [OEMRUNONCE] c:\windows\options\cabs\oemrun.exe

No one seems to have a clue as to why it's there -- and it appears to me to be left as a result of a bug in the original OEM install process. Typically RUNONCE files are meant to do just that, run once and then be removed from the startups.

Since you have WinME, msconfig will bug you about the change everytime you boot up unless you check the "don't show" the reminder box when it prompts.

You're very welcome for the help and I will mark this as "resolved". If you have further problems concerning these issues just repost to this thread and I will "unresolve" it.

Hi Lilee, welcome to TSG.. :)

That's a clean log. (y)

The only thing I would recommend is to go here and clean up a few of the 04 entries. It gives you all the info you need to do this, and it will increase the speed of your PC.

Cheers

Liam
