I am using outlook express for my email, today I checked mail and found email ....FROM: hahaha SUBJECT:SNOWWHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS THE REAL STORY Somebody told me not to open the email cause it is some sort of virus, how do I delete the email using outlook express? The only way I know how is to click on the email and delete it that way, but doing that would automatically open the email. Can somebody please clue me in as to how to delete it without opening it? Thanks in advance!

On your outlook express main window, go to view, click on layout, and remove the check mark in preview pane. Then click apply.
You can now single click on the message header without it opening, click delete then go to deleted items folder and delete again. It is recommended NOT to have the preview pane showing for that very reason.

    Option:

    Go here

    http://www.abreuretto.com/anti-spam/indexi.htm

    and d/l a copy of EMC5.0.

It's free antispam software which enables you to preview mail headers and delete them while still on the IPS server.

Once you finish screening with EMC5, open OE and read your mail.

    Hiya

You can also set up Rules for incoming mail.

Tools | Message Rules | Mail

    New

In the first part, tick the one you want, say Where The Subject Line Contains Specific Words
In the second, choose one again, maybe Do Not Download From Server or Delete From Server
In the third, click the blue highlighted words (contains specific words)
Type in the words, say Snow White
    Add, OK

Ensure the rule number is #1 or depending on how many you have. OK, OK

    Regards

    eddie

one more option i have used ...

go to www.mail2web.com to find your email and delete it from there.

    tomlunt,

    http://www.mail2web.com
That is a good site to stop all the spam.
Have you ever use the part that deletes the attachments?

I was wondering how it works. Because I use Netscape and put things into the body of the email so they don't show as an attacment but other email programs show them as an attachment.

    hewee -

i have only deleted entire messages - attachments and all. I guess i don't really understand why some message would have the body of the e-mail as an attachment and some wouldn't - but then again i don't use netscape.

I really don't use mail2web very often - i used to use it while travelling, but now i have a laptop so i don't need it.

I did get stuck on some stupid mailing recently and kept receiving junk mail with a virus attached for a period of a few days. My virus scanner caught the viruses, but just to be safe i checked all my mail for a few days using mail2web.

    tomlunt,

    OK thanks.
Will have to attach some files and add them to the body and test out just what happens there.

I just found the site so use it to delete the junk email.
Wish I knew about it last Sept. when twice in one week I got the SUBJECT:SNOWWHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS THE REAL STORY email.
Both times I got 3 emails.
But I knew what it was and ZoneAlarm rename the files attached to it so I was safe.
Well I also have the Java off on the email and don't have the Windows Scripting Host running.
So all was safe on my end.
Had to write some emails to my ISP because they came from them.

thru all this nobody asked you if you had an antivirus protector that also covers your e-mail?
if you need one AVG will do that & its free...although I recommend Nortons or PCcillin first... but I use AVG myself. http://www.grifsoft.com for AVG

also if you go to start/settings/control panel/internet tools/security then click the icon of the globe for Internet...then custom level settings... scroll down a couple & under ActiveX... disable script ActiveX controls marked safe .
