Ok, i always used to just be able to createa text document and name it right there with out opening it, like right clicking on it and hitting rename and i could name it anything i want. Now when i do that, whatever i type there, that is the file extension so it wont run, or if i save the text file and i wanna save it as like something.bat or whatever, i have to hit Save as: All files and then on my desktop if i have a text document, it shows the .txt extension in the NAME. someone PLZ HELP ME!

Did you recently change any FolderOption view properties like "Hide Extensions for Known File Types" to "Yes" ? If so, change it back to "No" and then try it.

Start>Settings>ControlPanel>FolderOptions>View ... Uncheck "Hide Extensions For Known File Types" and click on Apply. Now try creating one and renaming it.

    Let us know what happens.
