Hi all, I just recently upgraded to Windows 2000. I loaded the recommended updates online yesterday and now I run slower. Anything I can do? THANKS.

define slower.

do you mean you download slower, that your computer boots slower, that applications open slower, that pictures render slower...be more specific.

also, will need to know basics of your system (ram, processor, etc) and which upgrades(sp1, 2, etc) you downloaded.

Sorry, it shuts down slower as well as opens programs slower. I downloaded s-1 and all the hotfix after that ie Q329834, Q328310, Q329170...I have 256 RAM AMD Processor and running Windows 2000. Thanks all.

I believe you can go to Start > Settings > Control Panel and Add / Remove programs and double click.
I think you'll see the upgrades there and can uninstall them and see if that fixes the problem.

If you don't mind, just what fixed the problem so we'll know for next time someone has the same problem??
Thanks and glad it's fixed.

I uninstalled the updates and then reinstalled one by one and it seems better now. Thanks all, you rock.

I had the same problem. When going into Task Manager and observing CPU Usage I saw the graph cycling from 1% to 81%. Of course the computer was lagging in any response to mouse movement or closing windows etc. After reading your replies I removed the upgrades one by one, until I saw an improvement. I had about six installed. But first I checked what the upgrades did and eliminated the ones I thought weren't needed. I removed two of them Q328310 and Q329170. This stopped the cycling and the system is fast once again. I really appreciate the info.

Keep up the good work.
