Recently I disconnected the volume button in windows 98, I thought it was in mscongig...startup. I did this because some of the programs I run, need all the memory they can get, and windows 98 is not good about their reallocation.

I assumed that I could run msconfig and put my x in the box for volume, restart my computer and be back in business. However, I just ran msconfig but I could not find anything for volume.

What do I need to do to recall the volume slide? I need the vol. indicator because some of the CD's I use are recorded at a level that is not adequate for these old ears.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Howdy,

Go into Control Panel / Multimedia and check the box "Show Volume control on the taskbar".
