How can I create a transparent watermark to go on a yellow coloured page? I do not want the watermark to be black and white but a faded gold.

Thank you kindly

Hiya and welcome

These are some suggestions from the Adobe forums, though you have to be a member, so its a copy/paste job :)

A)

Do you mean you want to do a transparent watermark with a logo? Assuming the logo is already a shape with transparent areas, give it a layer style, like bevel and emboss, then change the fill of that layer to 0% in the layers palette...

If not, select a color with the magic wand set to not contiguous (uncheck the contig. button on the option bar) Ctrl+J to make it float on its own layer, then continue the aforementionned procedure

B)

I would like to make an image transparent or a ghost image. I need to do this because i want to use the image as a watermark (similar to the $20 bill) Does anyone know how to do that using Photoshop 7.0?

Change the opacity

It's at the upper right of your layers palette. It should say "Opacity" and has a percentage (100% at this point). If you click on the little arrow to the right you will find an opacity slider that you can use as well as typing your own values in the box.

Thats for version 7.0, but may be similar

If no good, I'll keep searching :)

Hiya

Got an email:

it's a photo in burnished gold. I want to retain a semblance of the colour but have it faded in the background of each page - so that it looks like a ghosting image. I'll try the opacity and see how it works. Thanks for your time - sorry
it took me so long to reply
Thats okay :)

Let us know if it works
