I would like to know what the command is for when you restart the computer without letting any of the program start in the background? Thanks a million to whoever can help!

The best way is to restart in safe mode through the startup menu. You can access this on startup by tapping the f8 key repeatedly as soon as rebooting begins.

You can also try depressing and holding the shiftkey throughout the entire startup process, but this only prevents some startups from not running.

If you have Win98 or WinME you can use the System Configuration Utility ( run msconfig).
