My main HD, just went kaputz on me.. can't get into XP, Recovery Console, Safe Mode, etc...

So,.... 1. I have a backup clean/empty HD, so I'll clean install XP, and i'll make it master
    2. then the messed up HD i'll make it slave, right??

now... how do I copy the files from the old HD into the new one... it's mp3's and picture files, and I know the exact directories... do I use XCopy???

But another question... on XP, the repair-install feature.... is that a total reinstall, wiping out everything... or is existing data protected???? and if it's true that data is protected, how do i do the "repair install" on XP???

I put this in your own thread. When you have a problem, please start your own thread. With one problem per thread it is difficult at best to follow what has/has not been done. With two or more, it is impossible.
